Flipping Potatoes

photo10

(On a quick side note, I plan, as a tribute to my Grandma, to post her picture at the top of each post through the rest of November…I’m going to miss her and our fun times)

Totally on topic today, this is a picture I took the first night I cooked on my new Rachel Ray pots and pans:

photo3  It’s blurry because I am actually flipping the potatoes in the air to turn them and shake things up…I show you this because I CAN ACTUALLY FLIP MY POTATOES!

The last pans I had?  I couldn’t do this because, well, they SUCKED!  When you boil water for pasta and then the pasta actually sticks to the pot…that sucks!

Before I started cooking with the yuck pans, I had gotten pretty adept at flipping items in the pans.  I got so good at it that I could actually flip a fried egg this way…kid you not!

I’m not one to brag but…oh, who am I kidding, I am one to brag.  I know what I’m good at!  Anyway, I could flip pretty much anything without using a spatula.

I plan to quickly get that talent back because (1) it’s fun (b) it’s a time saver (iii) it’s completely awesome and impressive and (four) come on, it’s just plain fun!

Of course, flipping food doesn’t work for things like scrambled eggs…but the spatulas would feel so lonely if they never got used and so, for those I still pull out the proper job.

In short, I am loving my new pans!  I’m just wondering, anyone else have the flip and egg talent?  What’s your favorite thing to cook for dinner?

  1. I am so behind on reading blogs. I just went back and read all of yours. I was shocked to read your grandmother passed away. I remember all your posts about Tuesday night and your little trips with her. I can only imagine your pain. My deepest sympathies.
